Welcome to our travel blog. Thanks for visiting. We are now in Kurrimine Beach which is just near Mission Beach in Qld. Since our last blog we left Mt Isa and headed east with overnight stops at Julia Creek and Hughenden, then on to Charters Towers for a week or so. I knew I was looking forward to Charters Towers, but didn’t know why because I hadn’t heard anything about it. It’s a lovely town, which has retained its authentic architecture from the gold rush years. There is a look out with a 360º view of the town and a spectacular sunset (yep another one!!). We then travelled south for a bit to a little place called Burdekin Falls Dam for some quiet time. By now the weather is getting a bit hot, so we aren’t doing much so this was a nice place to stop as there were some cool breezes at night. Next stop was another gold mining town called Ravenswood and again the buildings have retained their original architecture. Then it was on to Townsville, but strangely the only photos I took were of the Air show. We were there when the dust storm hit Sydney and Brisbane and we experienced it in Townsville as well. You may even see some smog in the photos of the aircraft. We are now in Kurrimine Beach which is just near Mission Beach and will be leaving for Cairns on Monday. It may sound strange that we are heading north now that it’s getting hotter up here, but we are meeting Yol and Ron, Jan and Norm, and Libby and John up in Pt Douglas in mid-Nov. Can’t wait to see them all again. We will probably spend some time in the Atherton Tablelands while waiting for them and hopefully it will be a bit cooler there. Thanks for spending time looking at our blog and hope you enjoy the photos. Don’t forget to leave us a note below to let us know you have had a look. We love reading your messages. Bye for now, Yvonne & Wally
