It is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and Iraq to the north and lies on the northwestern shore of the Persian Gulf. The name Kuwait is derived from the Arabic "akwat", the plural of "kout", meaning fortress built near water.
Just before taking this photo I nearly lost any hope for capturing blue hour that evening as the huge storm came just after sunset. It was extremely strong and besides the rain, there was hail as well. Many people could not believe it. Children as well as adults have been picking up the small pieces of ice from the ground and many of them tasting as well ! Luckily the storm passed in no more than 10-15 mins and I was able to capture this view as the storm continued over the Kuwait city.
